Denim Shirtdress from Forever 21

Okay, I saw this dress THAT I ALREADY OWN on Pinterest.

Petite Hourglass Rule #1: Add a belt.

Petite Hourglass Rule #2: ADD A BELT.

Button Down and Shorts

Adorable. I love this picture from Pinterest. I love the half-tuck of the button down into her adorable pink shorts.

I, however, do not have the luxury of such a long torso. In fact, I have very little torso. In fact in fact, the very little torso I have is mostly taken up with breasts.

Also, flats are tricky to pull off with this kind of outfit when you’re under 5′.

I left my shirt untucked and added lowish wedge heels. I also swapped the pretty white top for a dark button down so as not to look top-heavy. I feel like the trick here is to look casual and not too vavavoomy, so, despite my initial instincts, I did not add a belt (!). Oh, and I added a necklace. Because of fun.

So here’s my take, using, obvs, cheapie clothes I already had:

Shirt – New York & Company

Shorts – Forever 21

Olive Midi Skirt

Look at this cutiepie from Pinterest with her little hat and olive midi skirt.

Cute outfit from Pinterest

Midi skirts can be tricky for petites, especially petite hourglasses. But I’ve found pairing it with heels and a fitted top, and making sure the skirt doesn’t have toooo much volume, can make it alllllll all right.

I swapped out the relaxed tank for a fitted long-sleeved tee shirt (scrunch that crap!) and did closed-toe wedges to streamline. And I exchanged the hat for a necklace just because I don’t heart myself in hats.

My version:

Skirt – Old Navy

Shirt – H&M

Shoes – Aldo

Necklace – made it m’self!

Orange Blazer and White Tee

Look what I found on Pinterest! I have an orange blazer. I love an orange blazer. And I dooooo love me a white tee.

Awesome outfit from Pinterest

But open and with shorts is tricky on a busty and butty frame. Especially when they’re all squished in under 5′.

I added a belt and switched the shorts out for a faux leather skirt. Here’s my petite hourglass version:

Blazer – Strawberry

Shirt – Conway

Skirt – H&M

Boots – Rainbow

Tribal Skirt and Relaxed Top

This girl is so cute. She’s got this awesome relaxed batwing top. And I’m obsessed with bodycon tribal. And I love her lipstick and her sweet ombre hair.

My version, however, requires sleeves that are not superfar from the body. So that I don’t appear to be the same width at my breasts all the way down to my hips. Likewise, I require a nipping in, you see, of my shirt. So that my waist exists. Fit fit fit. Let’s all take a moment to reflect upon Our Patron Saint Salma Hayek.

Here’s my version:

Tee: Forever 21

Skirt: Forever 21

Bangles: Forever 21

Boots: Rainbow

Necklace: Who knows? Found it in my childhood bedroom

Sweater and lace shorts

Oh, tall luxury girl, with your long luxury legs and deliciously baggy luxury sweater. You make Pinterest shine.

Super cute from Pinterest

Buuuuut. Too loose for us curvy shorties. And the neckline is too high for a larger bust, even with short shorts. My take:

Boots – Rainbow
